LAST STOP: NORDPOLEN - We repeat the success with a new free Christmas show

November 9, 2023

For the third year in a row, we are transforming Loftet into a magical universe that will take the audience into a fairytale world. Welcome aboard the journey on the city's most spectacular tram that will take you all the way to the northernmost point on earth!

After last year's success with "Nordpolen Magiske Trikketransport", which received the Hedda Award for best children's show, Feil Teater and Kloden teater are back with another free theater experience at Christmas. This year's show is called "Last stop: North Pole".

Low-income families and organizations that work with child poverty, including child welfare services in several city districts, have been the first to be offered tickets to the performance. Today, the rest of the tickets are released for everyone.

Your greatest wish will come true

"Last stop: North Pole" is about 12-year-old Alva Sørensen, who has been listening to her grandmother's fairytale stories about the magical tram transport ever since she was little. Rumor has it that if you defy the weather and make it to the final stop in one piece, your greatest wish will come true. Now Alva must get to the North Pole with her wish before it's too late. If she doesn't make it in time, she is in danger of losing the most precious thing in the world.

Vilde Johannessen and Sebastian Skytterud Myers from Feil Teater are responsible for the idea, concept and direction of the performance. They hope the performance will make the audience think, especially about the relationship between the oldest and youngest members of the family - for those who are lucky enough to have a family.

- We hope that the children in the audience leave the performance wanting to talk to their grandparents about the life they have lived, and with an understanding that their elders will not be around forever," says Vilde Johannessen.

She points out that through the performance they are concerned with addressing the big things, what Christmas is really about.

- "Many children realize that the world is a bit messed up at the moment. We want the performance to show that there is hope, and focus on the small moments between actors and audience," she says and adds:

- We hope the children who come to us will have a memorable theater experience. The coolest Christmas theater in town can be found here!

The performance is suitable for children from 6 years old. Tickets are free and must be collected in advance. Due to the stage design, there are only 20 seats per performance.

Interviews with children from all over Oslo

The plot, characters and script are all based on interviews with children in the target group. The directors have talked to the children about "life, death and everything in between".

- The hope is to create a performance that many people can relate to, and that the kids think that this is a bit about me," says Sebastian Skytterud Myers.

This year, as last year, the performance is a total theater experience where the audience is led from room to room in a scenographic universe.

- "If the children are left with the experience of being on a journey to the North Pole; not just through a performance, but through a fully formed universe, we are very satisfied. The children get to help drive the story forward," says Skytterud Myers.

Costume designer from Frozen

Producers, actors, carpenters, costume designers, set designers, volunteers and many more are hard at work getting the show ready for the premiere on December 1.

One of the many people highlighted is this year's costume designer Christina Lovery.

- We've worked with her once before. She's one of Norway's hottest artists these days, and has made the costumes for the show Frozen, among other things. It's great fun to work with her," says Johannessen.
