About Kloden theater

Kloden Teater is a national stage for performing arts for children and young people. We present theatre and performing arts from Norway and abroad through a varied program throughout the year – for infants, kindergarten children, school children, teenagers, young adults and everything in between.

The audience gets to experience a wide range of artistic expressions and can also participate in creating themselves. We develop our program in contact with the community around us, and work to make cultural life more relevant and accessible to underrepresented population groups, both as audiences and participants.

In addition to our own public screenings, we present performances within the Cultural School Backpack. We host several festivals annually, including GoFigure, The Hedda Festival and Showbox. In recent years, around 12,000 audiences have seen performances with us each year.

For the performing arts field, we are a hub for professional events, performing arts production, projects and experimentation.

In addition to being a programming theater, our production facilities are used for rental by the entire performing arts field. In 2024, we collaborated with 59 performing arts companies from all over the country, and are the performing arts actor in the country that collaborates with the most companies from the independent field.

In parallel with full operation on our temporary stage, we are working towards the theater house Kloden theater that will house 2 stages, 5 rehearsal rooms, workshops, teaching rooms, office space and a café. In the summer of 2027, the theater house will open, in the same building that the theater is currently located in. We are going from being a small theater in temporary premises to becoming a theater three times as large in permanent premises. We are doing this because we are passionate about children and young people experiencing the very best performing arts from home and abroad, in a place where they want to be, meet and experience.
