Kjell Moberg with full focus on his own company

We've known about it for a while at the house, but this week it was time to thank Kjell Moberg for his invaluable work in building the Kloden theatre and as artistic director in recent years. He has done this work in parallel with being artistic director of the company NIE. Kloden The theatre's activities are constantly growing, and together with the fact that Kjell has now also received a 2-year artist grant, the roles could no longer be combined.

Moberg therefore chose to resign from his position with us.

– It is truly sad to lose Kjell as a colleague. Over the years, we have both carved out physical spaces for the performing arts and together had grand visions for the theater, which manifest themselves in it. Kloden theater is today, says Artistic Director Ådne Sekkelsten.

We have great understanding and respect for the choice Kjell has made, and that his time, heart and energy are now 100% invested in his own company. Moberg himself is happy with his time at Kloden theater.

– It has been a fantastic journey to be part of the development of Kloden theater, and I will miss both the team and all the artists at the house, says Kjell Moberg.

New collaborations

- Kjell and the rest of the NIE company have an important artistic voice in terms of form, content and expression, which has been clear and recognizable ever since I experienced their first production in 2001. It made an impression! And it has been an honor to design an entire theater together with Kjell," says Sekkelsten.

Moberg points out that when you've been involved in developing something from the start, you always have a strong desire for it to go well.

– It has been going well for Kloden theater, and I am sure that the major construction project will be realized shortly. It will be a boost for the entire performing arts field, and I am proud to have helped prepare the ground for this collective promise, he says.

All of us at Kloden Teater would like to thank you so much for your fantastic efforts and the inspiration it has been to have Kjell as a colleague and what he has given to the place. Now we look forward and look forward to new collaborations and projects with Kjell and NIE, in a different role. 

Kloden theatre is entering a new phase with increased artistic activity, more collaborations with the independent performing arts field and hopefully a construction project that lies right ahead of us. Ådne Sekkelsten is like Artistic Director also artistic director. From September we will strengthen our administrative management with a new appointment.
