Shush-free zone: Welcome to our first relay show
January 26, 2024
Relæxte performances are specially adapted for children, young people and families who need a more relaxed setting to enjoy the experience.
With the dance performance SAFARIUM, which is produced for children and young people with special needs, we cut the ribbon for our relaesxte program! A ticket link to the performance can be found below.
Shush-free zone
For performances marked with RELÆXT , we have made some adjustments:
- During the performance, there will be several hosts present to assist you if needed.
- Before your visit to the theater, you will have access to a visual guide. This describes the experience of coming to us at the theater and who you will meet. The guide is available both in digital form and to print out. You can also find the guide here:
We've also made some technical adjustments:
- During relay performances, the lights in the auditorium will be dimmed but never turned off.
- We have adjusted the sound level in the loudest peaks.
Most importantly:
- During relay performances, you are allowed to talk loudly, laugh, cry, tick and shout.
- You are also allowed to go in and out of the hall as much as you like.
- There will be two hosts in the hall to assist you and help you with whatever you need.
The performance manager will communicate this to the audience before the performance begins.
If you need to clarify your needs in advance or have any questions, you are welcome to contact Producer Mari Haugen by email or phone: mari@kloden.no, tel 915 15 637.
SAFARIUM - Landing
In SAFARIUM by and with the dance group Landing, the audience gets to experience both power and sensibility up close through the dancers' sensual exploration of the space and basket embraces! The performance takes place in a magical landscape shared by the dancers and the children. Through the different situations in the performance, the space is transformed, and eventually the children are invited to enter a world where they move and explore the scenography together with the dancers.
SAFARIUM was produced in 2014, and has since its premiere been screened nearly 200 times.
- I feel that we provide an art experience where we take the audience's need for a safe and clear framework seriously, and that we also take them seriously in terms of daring and doing things that the educators around them would probably not have done," says Venke Sortland from Landing.
- "SAFARIUM is a very exciting project to perform because we constantly have to feel the balance between the artistic and the encounter with the audience. It's a project where I can't focus inwardly on 'my dance', since my performance as a dancer in the traditional sense is quite insignificant in this context. At the same time, I have to work to keep the energy in the room up," says Sortland.
Those who are attentive may remember that Kloden teater already had relæxte performances on the program during the puppetry festival GoFigure this summer. SAFARIUM will thus be the first relæxte performance on our own program.
We are proud to collaborate with The Arctic Theatre, and very happy to use their RELÆXT method and experience.
