Pi*s & Preach on Kloden : The Mothership – about work, care and performing arts

The event is free, but you must pick up a ticket in advance.

Welcome to Pils and Preik, organized by the artists in Moderskipet. We invite you to a hybrid between a work exhibition and a professional discussion, a spatial archive in process and an evening to exchange experiences and expertise.

The performance The Mothership examines the body after birth, the lack of knowledge about it and its place in art, history and societal narratives. In a world in crisis, we ask what this world would have looked like if midwives ruled it? If the famous art motif in history was not Memento mori – remember that you will die, but Memento nati – remember that you have been born? We examine the structures in which the body is part of, the value of the care we give to each other and look for the answers in The Mothership.

For us as independent performing artists, we question and challenge conventional forms of production, budgets and hierarchies. How can creative artists with a responsibility to care continue to create? How can the systems we depend on, but which also depend on us, become more flexible, more adapted to our life courses?

The mothership had its first launch at Rosendal Teater in April, now lands at Klodens Pils and Preik on May 12 before flying further into orbit around the co-producers Grenland Friteater and Rosendal Teater in October 2026.

The mothership was initiated by performing artists Mari Lassen Kamsvaag, Katrine Leth Nielsen, Marina Popovic and includes Kaja Mærk Egeberg as actor/composer, Thomas Bergsten as musician/composer and Corentin JPM Leven as lighting designer.

Fuel and babysitters are supported by the Directorate of Culture.

Emergency provisions, maternity porridge and operational PA systems supported by Kloden Theater.

NB! The project and content are not adapted for children as a target group, but if you need to bring children with you to participate, you are welcome to do so and to enter/exit the hall if necessary. There will be a small activity corner for drawing, building blocks, etc.
