A place in the state budget with 3 million in public operating support

- " This is first and foremost a great recognition of our work to realize the new theatre house Kloden teater with performing arts for children and young people," says a smiling theatre manager Ådne Sekkelsten.

Today was a historic day for Kloden teater. The theater has entered the state budget. With NOK 3 million in operating support, the theater has the funds to meet the operational needs to come, and can continue the parallel work on the new theater house Kloden teater.

We're on the threshold of something big in being able to start building the theater house in the old factory premises. At the same time, we will be running artistic activities for children and young people. Here at Kloden teater we present the country's best artists, and we now have the opportunity to do even more of that.

Historic day for Norwegian performing arts

Artistic director at Kloden teater, Kjell Moberg, calls the day historic.

- "This is a historic day for Norwegian performing arts. We have good support schemes for producing performing arts, but no premises for production and dissemination. With the realization of Kloden teater , the entire performing arts field will get a huge boost," he says.

Moberg emphasizes that with state support, the theatre can reach even more of the audiences who come to the theatre for the first time, and refers to the UN Convention on Human Rights.

"It is written down that everyone has the right to experience art and culture. Through this award, we can get closer to that goal by offering performances to all groups of the population.Kjell Moberg, Artistic Director

Engine of urban development

Kloden teater will also receive government recognition for investing in art and culture as a driving force in urban development.

- I have a fundamental belief that art and culture are important for people. Facilitating art experiences for children and young people is our function. We know the field and the needs," says Sekkelsten, and adds:

- This is a great day for the performing arts, for children and young people and for everyone in Oslo and Groruddalen.
