The Prime Minister takes the first step towards Kloden theater

Thursday, August 28th, got Kloden The theatre had a great visit when the Prime Minister himself made the trip to Kabelgata in Økern to mark the start of construction work for Norway's new national stage for performing arts for young people.
In what was formerly the factory halls of the Standard Telephone and Cable Factory, the Prime Minister, wearing a helmet and with a sledgehammer in hand, took the first symbolic blow to the wall. Thus, the work to transform the old industrial building into a state-of-the-art theater house has officially begun!
– This is a milestone for the entire Groruddalen, said Artistic Director Ådne Sekkelsten, who welcomed the Prime Minister together with Kamzy Gunaratnam (Ap), the artists Mine Yalcin and Helle Siljeholm, and Abdirahmaan Hasan, a former student at Kuben Upper Secondary School.
Kloden The theatre has been awarded 58 million kroner in government funding, the largest single investment in performing arts for children and young people in Norway ever. This is also the first time a Norwegian government has allocated funds for a cultural building in Groruddalen, which marks a milestone in Norwegian cultural policy.
The theater is being built with modern stages and production facilities, and is part of the regional initiative for Oslo East with the goal of contributing to inclusion and preventing exclusion among young people.
Planned opening is in 2027 .
