Globe + KHiO = True

February 14, 2020

Scenekunstbruket and Kloden have entered into a collaboration with the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) on a series of courses in performing arts for young audiences for the Academy. Throughout the spring and fall, we will cover the role of the producer, strategies in working with target groups and performing arts for children and young people in a historical perspective. We have also invited director/actor Hildur Kristinsdottir and playwright/director Toril Solvang to a professional day on contemporary practices in performing arts for children and young people.

The free whatfornothing?

Those who work in theater without being permanently employed at one of the theaters, and those who have their own theater companies, we often call "the independent field". But what does it really mean to work in the independent performing arts field? What funding schemes are available? How do I run my own company? How do I make a good application? Where can I get a job if I want to focus on performing arts for children and young people? Eirik Willyson, Producer for Kloden, has during January this year given the second class of the acting program an introduction to basic producer tasks, as well as an overview of the field of performing arts for children and young people so that the students know what opportunities exist in festivals, stages and support schemes.

How to work artistically on your own?

With your own company, you have full artistic control over your own work. Kjell Moberg is the artistic director of Kloden and his own company NiE, which has worked internationally with performing arts for children and young people for twenty years. In mid-February, he will meet the students in a one-week workshop based on his work with actors and focusing on target group work.

We have also invited Toril Solvang and Hildur Kristindottir, two leading performing artists who have worked extensively with children and young people. They will share thoughts about their own practice and conduct a workshop with the students.

Historical and international perspective

What was the situation 20 years ago, and where are we now? How does Norwegian performing arts for children and youth compare with other countries? Norsk Scenekunstbruk and Kloden present historical developments and international trends in performing arts for young audiences. By Ådne Sekkelsten and Kjell Moberg.

SPLICE ON STAGE FLOOR

Want to own a piece of Kloden? We're about to embark on the first construction phase of Kloden, which we've called Kloden Pilot. Although much is already in place, there is no denying that building a theater is expensive, even when the space itself is there. We have received funding and support for most things, but we still lack funds for a stage floor that can cover the concrete floor that is there now. That's why we're asking for your help, and a small contribution. Would you like to contribute to a stage floor? Make your contribution here: spleis.no/klodengulv
