GoFigure! launches Relaxed program to include more people during this year's festival

May 23, 2023

With the Avslappa program, GoFigure! wants to include children with learning disabilities, autism and other sensory challenges.

Research* shows that potentially vulnerable groups, such as children and young people with disabilities, are rarely given the opportunity to participate in cultural activities. There is thus a gap between the statutory rights to participate in cultural activities for the entire population and the actual offerings for groups that need adaptations to be able to participate. GoFigure! wants to do something about this.

We are inspired by the UK's long-running Relaxed Theatre initiative, which is based on the idea that the theater is perceived as inaccessible to those with sensory challenges. Relaxed Theatre is therefore adapted for people with learning disabilities, autism and other sensory challenges.

Torunn Tusj, festival manager

The shows with the Avslappa program during this year's GoFigure! are kinShips and Rock me baby.

The aim is to make the theater experience accessible by making it predictable and safe. During the screenings in the Relaxed program, it is perfectly fine to go in and out of the performance space if you need a break. Hearing protection and cushions are available in a quieter corner, and it is possible to have a good look around the set before the performance begins. You can also talk to the performers. Information material can be sent in advance so that you are well prepared before your visit.

The performances in the Avslappa program are free. If you want to support GoFigure! you can transfer an amount of your choice.

Send an email to info@gofigure.no and request tickets, and they will contact you as soon as possible to clarify your wishes and needs.
