CHEERS!

April 5, 2019

The first performance at Kloden i sentrum during Heddadagene was a merciless distortion of a cheerleader show, bordering on the unrecognizable, but always cheering!

Kristin Ryg Helgebostad was a cheerleader for Frisk Asker Hockey in her youth, and with the performance Cheers she returns to her roots. The performance conjures up energies where new, unprecedented forces and connections can arise. The performers give themselves over to a cheering force that strengthens, weakens and changes a fragile but lovingly distorted community. The throws can be small and done with care, the cheers can be whispered or hissed - as long as they make something happen! They are in search of motley ways up and down from each other, embracing, deforming and celebrating what cheering is and can be.

Cheers is the sequel to composer/clocksmith Laura Marie Rueslåtten and choreographer/dancer Kristin Ryg Helgebostad's first full-length, the critically acclaimed ME TOO. The performance will be performed on Wednesday, June 12 at Kloden in the city center. Time to be announced.

The production won Natt og Dag's Oslo Award for Best Performing Arts 2018.

"The great strength of Cheers! lies in the fact that it shows some of the most controlled, tactical and strictly uniformed aspects of culture as natural. It provides a thought-provoking reminder of what it means to be part of a social organization, for better or worse."
