Tobias and the day it happened - Rimfrost productions

Tobias og dagen det smalt was shown on 08.01.22 at 13:00 and 15:00

"We will take you on a journey into the amazing world of dinosaurs. And our guide on the journey is the world's foremost dinosaur expert. Tobias! Tobias knows everything there is to know about dinosaurs, from the tiniest little rag lizard to the giant Tyrannosaurus Rex."

A lot of people call Tobias Cecilie. Almost everyone calls him that, actually. Not even mom and dad know that Cecilie is Tobias. And that's not so strange, because on the outside he has a girl's body, but inside he's a boy. Tobias is the nicest name he knows and together with his invisible dinosaur friend Konrad, Tobias can be himself; the world's best dinosaur expert!

His best friend Pauline is really the only one who knows who Tobias is. She tries to help, but Tobias still feels like he did when the meteor crashed into the earth and all the dinosaurs died. What will happen if everyone finds out who he really is?

Tobias og dagen det smalt is a performance about identity, dinosaurs and friendship for children aged 6 and up. The performance is based on conversations with children and adults about gender identity. Through a mix of fantasy and reality, the performance develops knowledge and insight: there are many ways to be human.

Tobias og dagen det smalt won The Hedda Award for best children's production in 2018.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their stories, knowledge and expertise.

"It could easily have become a pedagogical explanation of transgender and tolerance. Instead, it has become a rich, form-conscious, multi-layered narrative of experience, where several related, smaller issues are reflected in the larger one, without competing with it or distracting from it." Lillian Bikset, Dagbladet. Rated 5

"I thought this was going to be awkward and pretentious. I was dead wrong. Rimfrost Teaterensemble put my skepticism to shame. With scriptwriter Jenny Svensson and director Morten Røsrud at the helm, they have created a production that is open, wondering, playful and diverse, and which thus manages to talk about something as complex as unclear gender identity without becoming stubborn or confident. On the contrary." Anki Gerhardsen, Nordlys. Rated 5

"I think it is important that they have chosen a male actor to portray Tobias, that we get to see him as the person he feels inside and not as what he looks like. (...) "Tobias og dagen det smalt" has become great theater for children, and it also stands up well to the eyes and ears of adults." Helge Matland, iTromsø. Roll of the dice 5

"It's never too simple, never too difficult. It is an important theme, a theme of the times, which is conveyed with cleverness, parallels and lots of childish fun." Hege Iren Hanssen, NRK.
