Rhetorical self-defense - Sarah Smith Ogunbona

In Rhetorical Self-Defense, the 19th century epistolary novel meets a horror-like universe when Nina, a temporary office receptionist, has to adapt to the rules and structures of the workplace. In a gray office landscape, Nina's training takes place exclusively via email. But how do you fill an eight-hour workday at a reception desk? And what lurks in the shadows of the office? We sense the outlines of a sick note with a larger backstory and a company where every function needs to be streamlined.

The performance examines clichés and underplaying of everyday tasks, time use, alienation and illness.

Rhetorical self-defense is written by Sarah Ogunbona and is based on her experiences as a temporary office receptionist.

"In today's society, working is an end in itself, regardless of what we do at work."
