The promise of revolution - Voices from Palestine

The Promise of the Revolution is about love of life, art and freedom. It is a tribute to those who refuse to be silenced by the occupation's attempts to crush resistance through censorship, imprisonment and torture.

The Promise of the Revolution tells the story of The Freedom Theatre in Jenin, West Bank, and includes testimonials from prominent Palestinian artists. It is a powerful portrayal of life under occupation, where censorship and injustice are central. At the same time, it is a tale of courage, perseverance, and the power of art as a tool for resistance.

The play has been translated into Norwegian by Motvaininger (Vibeke Harper and Marius Kolbenstvedt).

Palestinian food

You will taste traditional Palestinian food. There will be Mezah classics including hummus, grilled vegetables, falafel and baba ghanoush.

Art workshop with Anas Salameh

Anas Salameh is a visual artist of Syrian and Palestinian background who lives in Norway. He has Palestinian parents, but was born and raised in Syria, in the Yarmouk Refugee Camp, Damascus. For Anas, art is a way of expressing himself, and he himself says that when he paints, he paints with soul.

At the Palestinian Cultural Festival, guests will be able to express their feelings through drawing on a large canvas. Anas has drawn a frame in advance, and on the evening itself we will create a complete work of art together. Some of Anas's own pictures will also be exhibited.

 Dabke workshop with Mazen

Would you like to try your hand at dabke?

Dabke is a traditional folk dance, especially popular in Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Syria. The dance is usually performed in groups, either by men or women, and is common at weddings, celebrations and cultural events. Dabke is an important part of the cultural heritage and is a symbol of unity and joy.

DJ Daeva

The evening ends on the dance floor with DJ Daeva.

Nasim aka Daeva is an Oslo-based DJ, artist and activist born and raised in Tehran. With a passion for music and a deep understanding of how it can unite people, she invites you on a sound and movement adventure across all seven continents.

Since 2004, Daeva has been a prominent figure on Oslo's club scene and festivals, with performances at venues such as Cosmopolite, Blå, Khartoum, the National Museum, Riksscenen, the Munch Museum, Oslo Pride and many more.
