The globe at the center

Welcome to a week of outstanding performances and interesting conversations!

Those of us in the performing arts are concerned with what is happening here and now. We want to create experiences in community, experiences that entertain, surprise and provoke, and make us ask questions and talk together.

This year, the entire program has been developed for young people, and the performances are very different. Young people have different tastes and interests, just like adults, and we want to showcase some of the artistic diversity that exists in Norway.

During this year's festival, we have two discussions for and with young people: one on racism and one on the climate crisis. These events are free and open to all. Kloden wants to help give young people more platforms for good, respectful conversations in public.

Thanks to the City of Oslo for operational support and cheers. We are lucky to live in a city that has its own strategy for the performing arts and young people. Kloden helps to fulfill the goals of the strategy. And thank you to all of you who provide good input and ideas and help us to promote Kloden. Kloden needs you!

ABOUT THE BELL

Kloden is becoming the place for performing arts and young people - the place for all children and young people, and everyone who works with performing arts. At Kloden, you will find that your unique experiences matter to others. Performances and events will reflect the cultural and artistic richness that exists in Norway and the rest of the Globe.

In the fall of 2019, we will move our office to Kabelgata in Økern, and we will start building Kloden Pilot right next door. This will house performances, professional events and production spaces for artists. We are very pleased to establish ourselves in the middle of Oslo city center and Groruddalen, and to contribute to making Hovinbyen a great place to live and grow up!

Kloden pilot will be in full swing until Kloden is completed in the same street in a few years' time. With Kloden, the public, artists and professionals will get:

  • a place with the best performances for children, youth and families all year round
  • a place where children and young people can explore their own artistic expression in collaboration with professional artists
  • a place for public conversation with and for youth
  • a place with really good workspaces, where artists can work around the clock
  • a professional hub for those who work with or are interested in the performing arts
  • a place that collaborates on touring and professional development with venues and others in Norway and abroad.
