The Hedda Festival : Soft Machine – Oslo Choreography
In Soft Machine, the audience is a guest on a twisted and magnificent TV show where the hosts carefreely buy and consume. It's the minute before it all collapses, but we don't think about that now. What a wonderful time to be alive!
Soft Machine is a performance experience in which three dancers explore consumption through exaggeration and humor – to the delight and wonder of both adults and children.
Through a huge plastic TV, the audience is presented with scenes that range from the realistic to the absurd – with refreshing and surprising use of body and dance, mimicry and voice.
In an American-sounding gibberish, the performers address the audience and each other. Occasionally they also sing – improvised notes that arise here and there, as part of a varied and exciting electronic soundscape. While the performers' actions constantly trigger laughter and wonder, the use of light and reflections contributes to a further range of moods.
