Hardly ever - Wee

The performance is presented in collaboration with Dansenett Norway.

Lying is something all humans have in common. Most people lie quite a lot, in fact, one study shows that we lie once or twice a day. In the course of a week, most of us deceive around thirty people. With Hardly Ever, Wee continues an investigation into perceptions of truth and lies in the theater as well as in everyday life.

Is the conclusion that you can't be absolutely certain of anything, other than what you choose to believe?

In Hardly Ever, the performer's body is seen as a fiction, where a multitude of possible body fictions can become visible - as constant variations of what is true. The stage becomes a playground where the dancers construct and renegotiate different physical identities, and where situations are manipulated and scenes change.

The work explores the space between a created expectation and the unexpected, between what is visible and what is invisible. Physical actions are juxtaposed and confronted with verbal statements, opening up different associations. The performers map the space with their bodies, moving, presenting, sneaking, shaking and evading. Small discrepancies in the physical reactions can open up new meanings.

The production is a continuation of the work they started on this theme in the production Sincerely Yours (2008-09).
