Klassekampen writes about the cut in operating support
October 21, 2026
The government is cutting operating support for Kloden theater, writes Klassekampen on October 16, – just eight months before the theater opens a brand new building.
Klassekampen writes:
During the 2025 election campaign, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labour Party) helped mark the start of construction for new Kloden theatre in Groruddalen. Then Minister of Culture Lubna Jaffery (Labour Party) followed up by laying the foundation stone this summer.
Now, however, the opening of the new building is hanging by a thread.
The reason is that Kloden The theatre has received significantly less operating support in next year's proposed state budget than they had budgeted for.
– We applied for 14 million in operating funds for 2027, but only get 3. If this remains the case, we will not be able to open the theater, says Ådne Sekkelsten, Artistic Director by Kloden theater.
