Pi*s & preach on Kloden : Writing about art so people understand

Welcome to the first Pi*s and sermon of the fall!

This is an informal meeting place for artists and professionals. Keywords: low shoulders, professional enrichment and room for discussion.
This evening we will address a question that many are wondering about: How to communicate an art project in the best possible way – in applications, to potential collaborators and to the public?

Lecture: Writing about art and culture so people understand

Anne Ogundipe , art and media researcher and senior advisor at the Directorate of Culture, will open the evening.

Anne talks about how we can communicate clearly, inclusively, and invitingly about something that is fundamentally ambiguous and unclear – namely art.

Panel Discussion: Artistic Integrity vs. Good Communication

Then, performing artists Guro Sibeko , Claire de Wangen and Hannah Parsons will engage in a dialogue about art and communication. The conversation will focus on questions such as:

  • How do you describe your art project in a grant application without losing the core content?
  • How do you maintain artistic integrity and identity while communicating effectively to your audience?
  • How can institutions and artists best collaborate on dissemination?

The panel discussion is led by Margareta Magnus Myhre, communications manager at Kloden theater

Joint dialogue and sermon

As usual, the panel discussion will flow into a shared dialogue for all attendees. The bar is open, and there will be plenty of time for sermons and to meet both familiar and unfamiliar colleagues.

Welcome!

Claire de Wangen has created distinctive and immersive theatre experiences since 2001, primarily in the independent performing arts field, but in recent years also in collaboration with various institutions. With the company deWangen-produksjoner, she has been responsible for production/concept/script development and direction of over 30 performances. The works challenge familiar conventions about where and how theatre can be found, and are a continuous exploration of the dynamics between place, audience and fiction. deWangen-produksjoner has received project support and artist support over the years, and is currently supported through the scheme for established companies. De Wangen has also processed applications as a member of the professional committee for theatre at the Norwegian Arts Council. www.dewangen.com

GUTS is a dance arts company from Oslo, led by Liv Edginton, Ingvild Marstein Olsen and Hannah Parsons (right). The company is built on six years of creative collaboration and artistic dialogue dedicated to movement research, performance and choreography. GUTS is the grind of transformation, the instinct that drives us forward – that which moves in the muscles and in the marrow of our bones. All the power within: disordered, deeply bodily, essential. Central to GUTS' work is a fundamental commitment to the study of movement, where the artists create specific and rigorous movement languages. With the body as a foundation, they interact with other art forms to build enveloping worlds. The company members share a dedication to movement as an arena for learning and community.
