Pi*s & preach on Kloden #3 – What happens if Facebook dies?
For many, social media is the most important channel for reaching audiences with information about performances and other events. But social media is changing, and the algorithms for what you get information about are more tightly controlled than before. After the US election, META platforms have faced criticism, especially related to disinformation and content management.
This raises questions, among other things, about the future effect of using these platforms, and the ethics of doing so.
How to deal with digital platforms when they suddenly become a tool for fake news and extreme forces? Is this a future platform for artists? And if one withdraws from the most used platforms – what could be the alternatives?
Performing arts companies, which often do not have their own marketing staff, must also be responsible for this work themselves, along with all other work. For performers and performing arts companies, the development of social media can therefore have a major impact.
Where should the independent performing arts field do its marketing if not on social media?
We welcome you to a sermon and a joint sharing of experiences, and maybe we can all pick up some smart tips along the way. We have had Magni Sørløkk from Playground Music Scandinavia and Ida Hauge Johannessen from Vega scene introduce and share their experiences about marketing, social media and other channels.
