MINIØYA : Soleiman and the Queen of Sheba, presented by Kloden theater

Mark the place! MINIØYA

Soleiman and the Queen of Sheba is a musical narrative theater about Soleiman who dreams of becoming king of the whole world. If he becomes king, he promises to be kind and serve the people. One day he is visited by the warbird who brings a ring of red ruby. Soleiman puts the ring on his finger and gets all the wisdom and magical powers you can imagine. He becomes the leader of people, animals, fairies and djinns, and the king of the whole world.

Will Soleiman be able to do what he promised? And what happens when he finds out that there is another ruler out there; a queen who is at least as wise as him?

Welcome to a world of trønder-rocking djinns, flying carpets, DJ queens, kings who have the urge to pee, and donkeys who take over the throne and turn the world upside down.

The play is based on Jewish and Muslim legends about King Solomon, and re-written by storyteller Mehda Zolfaqari. The music is composed by Marie Sahba, who is both a musician and co-actor on stage. With the help of oral storytelling, interactivity, puppetry and a beautiful sense of humor, the performers try to address themes such as power, popular rule, cooperation and the importance of sharing.

Marie Sahba is a Norwegian-Iranian artist, songwriter, producer and DJ from Trondheim. She seamlessly weaves her cultural heritage from Iran with a modern electronic expression. With two successful EP releases behind her and the upcoming debut album "A Billion Years Too Soon" that has garnered 5's and praise from Dagsavisen and Aftenposten, she has created a unique musical universe of melancholy, traditional instruments, beautiful melodies and atmospheric synths firmly rooted in a danceable club landscape. The personal lyrics in English and Azeri tell stories of her roots, loss and life's ups and downs. Marie Sahba has toured in Norway and Turkey, among other places. Her debut was the single "Take Me Back" (2019) which ended up on H&M's international playlists, the Netflix series "Heksejakt" and the Swedish series "Udda Veckor".
