Heddadagene: Bulletproof vest - Brageteatret

Heddadagene: Bulletproof vest was shown on 15.06.22 at 18:00 and on 16.06.22 at 10:30 and 13:00

Brageteatret presents Bulletproof vest - Yahya Hassan's life and poetry.

With Yahya Hassan's poetry, we want to invite you into a merciless world of fear, bulletproof vests and lack of opportunity. But while trauma reigns, there are also traces of humor, pink thongs, hashish and hope. Danish-Palestinian Yahya Hassan made his debut as a groundbreaking poet at the Danish publishing house Gyldendal at the age of 18 and made his mark as a strong and brutal critic of both his own upbringing and Danish society. On April 28, 2020, he was found dead in his apartment, aged just 24. On stage we meet Tani Dibasey, Simo Elh Babi and Nils Bendik Henningsen Kvissel.

The evening performance on June 15 begins with the lecture "Alle vil se sjiraffen" - Dan Andersen on Yahya Hassan.

Dan Andersen is a writer and editor who worked with Yahya Hassan on the Norwegian edition of Hassan's sensational debut book. In his introduction, Andersen will talk about the time and climate surrounding the publication of Yahya Hassan, and attempt to nuance the image of the exceptional young writer who was pressed to the chest by very different social forces. Dan Andersen made his debut in 2010 with the poetry collection Evighetsarbeid and has since published several critically acclaimed books. His latest publication is Flaggtale, a collection of poems about Norwegian nationalism.

"Explosive about Yahya Hassan's life" "Brageteatret hits the poetic mark with Bulletproof Vest. As with the life of Yahya Hassan, I wish it lasted much longer." Rania Broud, Shakespearetidsskriftet.

"Yahya Hassan's poetry finds its way to the stage in Brage Theatre's intense and verbally explosive performance "Bulletproof vest"""" Hits the mark with Yahya Hassan's poems" Mode Steinkjer, Dagsavisen

Brageteatret was established in 2000, and its mandate was to produce theatrical experiences for the target group of children and young people. When the Cultural Rucksack was launched a few years later, the regional theater was given responsibility for delivering the performing arts in DKS-Buskerud. The theater, which is located at Union Scene in Drammen, has expanded its offerings in recent years, and now offers performing arts to all age groups, but has retained its main focus on young people. As of 2020, Brageteatret will be touring its performances throughout Viken county.
