The Great Culture Debate

Art and culture create the city

In connection with the municipal and county council elections of 2023, we invite you to a cultural policy debate with representatives from various political parties in Oslo.

How can professional art and culture contribute to creating a good place to live for the youth in Oslo?

Based on the current municipal plan, with its vision, goals, and strategies towards 2040, it states that Oslo aims to become a greener, more inviting, and more creative city that accommodates everyone. Additionally, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are an important part of Oslo’s societal planning, where one of the goals is to create sustainable and inclusive urbanisation, cities, and local communities.

Paneldebatten vil dreie seg rundt følgende spørsmål:

The panel debate will focus on the following questions:

  1. What kind of visions do the political parties have for professional art as a contributor to creating sustainable local communities in the city?
  2. What role do professional artists and cultural actors have in the future Oslo??
  3. How do the politicians imagine that art and cultural actors can contribute to the goals outlined in the municipal plan?
  4. In what way will the politicians facilitate diversity in the presentation of professional art in Oslo?
