FRI KUNST – A CELEBRATION OF ARTISTIC FREEDOM 2 – 8. MARCH 2020
Fri kunst – Artistic freedom – is a network of artists, cultural institutions and organizations.
We stand together to help artists and art institutions – in all countries – be able to create and practice their art freely, without being threatened and persecuted. This is a fundamental right and a prerequisite for a free and democratic society.
Artistic freedom is increasingly vulnerable around the world. We cannot accept that artists and art institutions are put under pressure by politicians who disagree with the message, the means or the art form. Political authorities should not overrule independent, artistic decisions.
Our goal is
- to act hard and in solidarity when artists are exposed to censorship, persecution and harassment,
- to contribute to increased awareness in the community of protecting the artistic freedom of expression,
- to support and preserve the autonomy of art, defending the principle of “arm’s length” in on the arts field.
Between 2-8. March you can attend a number of events, overview of activities here.
